Secure payments

Pay your teacher with confidence.

Advance payments make both sides hesitate. Paying through the platform holds the fee until the agreed classes are delivered — so neither the family nor the teacher has to go first on trust alone.

Why we offer it

Both sides of a first lesson are taking somebody at their word. These are the two worries we hear.

The parent
What if I pay in advance and the teacher does not continue the classes?
The teacher
What if I run the classes and the payment never arrives?

Both are reasonable, and both stop good matches from starting. Holding the payment answers them at the same time: the teacher can see the money is there, and the family knows it is not released until the classes have happened.

How it works

Four steps, and the money only moves at the last one.

1

Student pays

The fee is paid through the platform, not to the teacher.

2

Payment held

We hold it securely while the classes are arranged.

3

Classes delivered

The teacher runs the sessions you agreed.

4

Payment released

You confirm, and the money goes to the teacher.

What it protects

For students and parents

Book without betting on a stranger.

  • Your fee is held, not handed over on day one
  • Released only once the agreed classes are delivered
  • Protection against paying for lessons that never happen
  • Any service fee is shown before you pay
  • Multiple payment methods, subject to availability

For teachers

Start teaching knowing the fee exists.

  • See that payment has been made before the first lesson
  • Protection against teaching and never being paid
  • Take on new students you have no history with
  • No chasing a family for an overdue fee
  • The terms stay yours to agree directly

Questions

Is there an extra charge?

A small service fee covers payment processing and platform maintenance. Anything that applies is shown to you before you pay — never added afterwards.

Do I have to use it?

No. You and the teacher are free to settle up however you both prefer, and most arrangements are made directly. Secure payment is there for when either side would rather have the protection.

What does the teacher see?

That the payment has been made and is being held, so they can start teaching knowing the money is there. That is the point — it removes the stand-off where neither side wants to go first.

How do I arrange it?

Talk to us before the first lesson and we will set it up for you and the teacher. Email support@1on1teacher.com or send us a message and we will take it from there.

For anything about a credit purchase rather than a lesson fee, see the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Focus on the learning, not the payment

Tell us before the first lesson and we will set up a secure payment for you and your teacher.
